CNN was one of 10 legacy media organisations to partner with Snapchat when they launched their ‘Discover’ platform in 2015. It provided the global news company a unique opportunity to translate trending news stories for a Gen-Z audience through a series of Snaps. In 2017, the show’s format transitioned to a TV-style show called ‘The Update’ which covered daily news and shortform evergreen content.
